THOUGHTS ABOUT TEACHING, PIANO, MUSIC, and LIFE (and probably food and coffee)
I love great music; I love sharing that love with people. Teaching, performing, speaking about music, and giving masterclasses all provide the perfect avenues for combining these two loves -- as does this website. I am a pianist, piano teacher, pedagogical speaker and consultant. I am also a lover of opera, chamber music, symphonic music...and cats. I am not a foodie per se, but I do enjoy trying new cuisines and trying new recipes -- even if it takes me a bit out of the way or extra time in the kitchen to make something I have never made before. Most people would also possibly tell you I drink too much coffee. :-) I am also a cancer survivor (stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma) and survived a second cancer scare (it was only a scare!!). My experience being diagnosed with cancer, going through intensive chemotherapy, and achieving remission was an experience that has left me with profound gratitude for waking every morning and -- as I often still say -- feeling like a kid on Christmas morning -- every morning. After I started chemo, I continued teaching because I found that teaching continued to inspire me, provided me with great comfort during treatment, and was a rewarding way to cope with the stress of a life-threatening illness. My writings will probably over time touch on all of these different experiences I have had. Please stay tuned for more posts! ArchivesNo Archives Categories |
